The Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences will offer a free course on Color Management in collaboration with the Cinema and Audiovisual School of Catalonia
The course, which will be free of charge, will take place from February 4 to April 8 on the Aretxabaleta campus of the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences of Mondragon University. The course was designed in collaboration with the Cinema and Audiovisual School of Catalonia (Escola Superior de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya, ESCAC).
- Registration: Course on Color Management
The Course on Color Management will take place from February 4 to April 8 on the Aretxabaleta campus of the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences of Mondragon University. Class meetings will be in person, on Tuesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. There will also be a field trip to the Elamedia studios in San Sebastian.
The course, which was designed in collaboration with the Cinema and Audiovisual School of Catalonia (Escola Superior de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya, ESCAC), will be free of charge, and registration will be available on the ESCAC website.
“Color Management” is a controlled workflow of transformation between interpretations of color and light that can be carried out by different capture and viewing devices (cameras, monitors, projectors, etc.), following different international audiovisual production standards. This course will examine the different phases of this workflow, paying special attention to the processing of the image based on different industry standards (versions for the SDR and HDR platforms, movie theaters, etc.).
Course objectives
The objectives of this course are to understand the processes of an audiovisual production from capture to final delivery, to discover different ways to manage color, and to learn to design different Color Management workflows based on the requirements of a given project. Therefore, it is advisable for those who wish to take the course to understand basic notions about the digital video signal, to have worked with the Davinci Resolve software, and to be familiar with the basic principles of color correction.
Free course
The course is free of charge, however, a deposit of €150 is required. This deposit will be returned to the same account from which it was paid once the course has been completed. In order for the deposit to be refunded, the student must have achieved at least 80% attendance.
This course was organized by the Cinema and Audiovisual School of Catalonia (Escola Superior de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya, ESCAC) in collaboration with Mondragon University’s Degree Program in Audiovisual Communication as part of the Fast Forward by ESCAC program created with European funds from the Next Generation program.
