Thirty-five Basque organizations are joining forces around the Emakumeak Zientzian project, thus reaffirming their commitment to the initiative's objectives: to make women's work in science visible, to break with the typically male roles attributed to scientific and technical activities, and to encourage girls and adolescents to choose scientific careers. With these objectives in mind, the organizations are joining forces to organize a program of activities to commemorate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, celebrated annually on February 11.
Emakumeak Zientzian is a project that, after its initial conception in 2017, has grown and strengthened year after year. In addition to meeting the initiative's main objectives, it offers in-depth reflection to advance a necessary change in the scientific and technological landscape. Thus, this year, "we want to highlight the concept of 'Hazia erein / Sow the seed,' emphasizing how every small action can make a difference on the path toward equality in science," says the Emakumeak Zientzian organization.
The Emakumeak Zientzian 2025 program will be held from February 7 to 14. An extensive program of more than 60 activities has been designed, covering the entire Basque Country to highlight how small, collective actions, sustained over time, generate a transformative impact.
Mondragon Unibertsitatea will offer visits to the laboratories used by students and research staff on its different campuses:
